The SAT essay is unlike anything most students have ever written. With college admission hanging in the balance, SAT test-takers have just 25 minutes to take a strong stance on an issue; support that position with examples, evidence, and details; and write a well-organized, compelling response. Top point-winning essays demonstrate skillful use of language and appropriate sentence structure; they are also (mostly) free of mechanical errors.

Because the SAT essay is worth about a third of the total writing score, careful preparation is crucial. Scholar's Secret's SAT Essay Prep program can help. Through guided discussion, practice, and evaluation, we show students how to:

• Approach the essay writing task with confidence -- and a plan
• Quickly evaluate, commit to, and organize an argument
• Develop an attention-getting introduction
• Generate total evidence in support of the argument -- drawing from reading, studies, experience, and observations
• Summarize the evidence and effectively tie the conclusion back to the introduction

Format: individual (1:1) or small groups (5 students max / group), to ensure that each participant gets focused attention, in-depth feedback, and lots of practice

Duration: 2 hours / week for 5 weeks, flexible start dates

Fee: $250 / student for 1:1 sessions; $200 / student for small group sessions
